We need to realize that God’s provision in all areas of our lives is enough!

What are you afraid of? Do you struggle with trusting God to meet your needs? The fear of not having what we need is one of the strongest and most persistent fears people experience. We’re constantly attacked with this fear whether it’s finances, relationships, or the ability to do what God has called us to do. God tells us not to fear, more than any other command in Scripture. God never promises us a trouble-free life, but He does promise us His presence and strength to get us through our troubles. We need to realize that God’s provision in all areas of our lives is enough.

“Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:11-13

The definition of contentment is a state of being happy and satisfied. So what’s the secret that Paul learned that would allow him to be content in any circumstance? I mean, for me, being content is a daily battle, sometimes an hourly battle. There are times I struggle with self esteem and I can barely stand to look in the mirror. Some days I get mad and wish I had more money to buy things I want and things I believe my family needs. At times I’m envious of the gifts that others have and I get frustrated with the way God has gifted me. So, how do I battle to stay content? After giving this question some thought, I’m pretty sure I have the answer. I need to maintain an attitude of gratitude. That may not be exactly what Paul was thinking when he wrote what he wrote. But for me, I need an attitude adjustment in order to find contentment in my life. Usually in my case that comes as a reality check.

On days when I wish I my body looked different, I remember the ones I visited in the hospital, the ones who were so sick and frail, that they would trade their whole life for one day in my body. On days when I wish I had more money, I stop and realize that my family and I have a home, clothes and food to eat. I remember the devastation I have seen with my own eyes, as all over our world everyday many would love to have the “little” that we have. On days when I wish I had someone else’s gifts, I remember that these gifts have allowed me to see countless people give their lives to Christ as their savior, and there are people who have never witnessed that.

Is there a particular area of your life where you don’t feel grateful? What is it that you think would help you be more grateful? Has God already provided it? Today, you have a decision to make and I do, too. We can choose either to be content and grateful or we can choose not to. We can let fear win or God win in our lives.

This is my Prayer: God give me an attitude of gratitude. Lord remind me every day and help me to see just how much I am blessed. Show me how you can be a blessing to someone else. Jesus teach me fight the fear of not having what I need, with the knowledge of what You have truly given me. Lord no matter what I’m going through or what’s around the corner prepare me to follow You and trust in Your provision for my life. In Jesus name, Amen.

Why am I in this relationship? To lead people to Christ!

Why am I in this relationship?  I wondered that more than once.  Usually it’s when I’m looking at a relationship in which I’m feeling the need to correct someone’s behavior or someone has just corrected mine.  We need to remember that Christ blesses us through the people He brings into our lives, but these relationships have a reason and a purpose.   What is that reason and purpose?  To lead people to Christ!  In some relationships you are there to lead people to Him and in some YOU need led back to Him.

Look at the relationships you are in right now, do you see what I mean.  Do see someone slipping away spiritually? Maybe there is someone in your own family who once was proud to worship God but now they have no time for him, maybe that person is you. Do you see someone who needs a relationship with Christ?  Did you answer YES to either of those questions? Then you’re probably asking yourself: What do I do? What do I say? Where do I start?  Well if our relationships are for the purpose of leading people to Christ, then I would say start with Him!

That’s exactly were Paul started, “Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained.  Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.  This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. “ 2 Timothy 8-13

When Paul shares with his dear friend Timothy, he starts with “REMEMBER JESUS”, then he reminds Timothy to use the Gospel, he refers to the Gospel as “MY GOSPEL”.   He made the Gospel of Jesus Christ his own personal good news.  Paul could endure anything because he knew that Jesus is Faithful even to the faithless.  He truly believed that if Jesus could forgive him, set him on the right path, and use him for God’s glory; then He could definitely do it for everyone else.  No matter where they are in their life. Paul cared about his own salvation, but he also cared about eternal destiny of the people God had put him in relationships with and couldn’t just idly watch somebody fall away from the faith.

Friendships based on God's love are important for all of us to have. We are called to love one another as Christ has loved us.  We need people who tell us Godly wisdom when we need to hear it, who will pray for us, and who will shine God’s light in our lives when we are in dark times.  Who in your life would stand beside you no matter what?  Who needs you to stand beside them?  Who do you know who seem to be slipping away?

This is my Prayer:  God continue to fortify my life with friends that will support me in my walk of faith.  Lord help me to reach out to those in my life who are slipping away from You.  Jesus give me the strength to call them back to You.  Show me Lord how to call them back not just with my words but with my life.  Lord give me a responsive heart to those that are calling me back You.  In Jesus name, Amen.

In what sometimes seems like chaos, God has a perfect order, but not everyone can see that.

As I sit here looking out over the beautiful scenery that God created and how it all fits together so perfect.  I can look into my own life and see God’s hand at work, and my trust is strengthened.  In what sometimes seems like chaos, God has a perfect order, but not everyone can see that.

Some people just can’t accept the concept of the existence of God. They see no particular order in the universe that would demand the existence of a grand Designer behind it all. They can find other explanations to satisfy them about the origins of life on earth.  Some know that there is a Creator, but only as someone to acknowledge from a distance. They see his divine order and the power of his hands, but they don’t have any personal connection with “him/her/it/whatever.”  Then there are those who come to know about the one true God by hearing the Gospel message.  They’ve heard that Jesus died on the cross for their sins and rose again offering them new life, and if you believe you will be saved.  Then you will never be alone God will come to live in your heart.  But then life happens and they still feel alone and disconnected from God.

As believers in Christ, we must keep in step with the Spirit "Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit." Galatians 5:25.  Life can change in the blink of an eye. Our lives can go from contentment and happiness one day to complete pain and despair the next. Yet though tragedy and heartbreak, we can still walk with God, God is with us and will sustain us through any situation.  Does this mean nothing will befall us during our time this side of heaven? No, but it does mean that as we go through life on earth, we are helped, comforted, and strengthened by the Spirit through our situations. If you feel God is not with you, will you take a step towards Him? Do you believe and trust Him?  This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.”--- “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.” Jeremiah 17:5,7

Sometime we believe and still don’t trust.  Trusting means living with the faith that everything is going to be okay, you say no that optimism. In a way optimists see a good outcome in every situation, as Christians we should too.  We have the word of God which tells us how this is all going to end.  If we believe His word to be true, then we need only to trust it.  Trusting means that you know a powerful and competent God who is in full control.  He will catch you when you fall and He will emerge victorious no matter what happens in your life.

This is my Prayer: God help me to see Your perfect order in what may seem like chaos in my life.  Holy Spirit I hear Your voice and feel Your tug at my heart, guiding and directing me.  God give me the strength and power each day to stay in step with You.  Lord teach me to not only to believe Your word to be true, but to trust it.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Repentance is not saying I'm sorry, it is saying I'm done!

What in your life seems impossible today?  Who do you FIRST turn to when times are difficult or seem impossible? Do you believe you can handle everything and try to do it on your own? Do you feel you have you progressed beyond God’s help? Don’t end up with God as a last resort--start with God as a first resort! We can do nothing without Jesus, the quicker we learn that the better. We need to get over ourselves, look away from ourselves and look up. We need to quit asking what can God do for me, realize the great things that God has already done for us.

God is our protector, the only one that makes impossible things possible here on earth. There are situations where it is difficult to fathom God's love for us in these times of loss, separation, or despair; God’s love for us will not be shaken. "Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken." Psalm 62:5-6

When we come to Christ through acceptance of the revelation that He is the one and only Son of God and all salvation is through Him, repentance should follow. Repentance is not saying I'm sorry, it is saying I'm done! I'm done with seeking help from the world, trying to do things on my own, and now I am focused on Christ.  “Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.” Matthew 3:8 It is then that God can meet all our needs and make the impossible, possible. "Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:3-4

This is my Prayer:  God I know only you can make the impossible possible in my life.  Lord show me the things of this world that I need to leave behind, so that I can be closer to You.  Jesus I am done seeking help from the world and trying to do things on my own.   Help me to focus on You.  In Jesus name, Amen.

God I need light in the darkness of my life!

Can you imagine pure light where there is not one speck of darkness?  As humans we see and experience so much darkness throughout our lives.  It is difficult, and at times, almost impossible to see God's glory and God's perfect plan when we are suffering or struggling to any light in the circumstance we find ourselves in.   Some circumstances are not ours to understand. We must believe that no matter what your circumstances are, God is truly with you and never leaves our side.

In our darkest hours, God is with us, holding us with His arms so that we do not fall "The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms." Deuteronomy 33:27 Even though you may not see Him in the moment He is there.  He promises us the pain won’t last forever. "Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end." Isaiah 60:20.  The scriptures promise you that no matter what the circumstance are He will be with you.  “I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 8:38-39

In times of darkness we must allow His pure light to shine in our lives. Is He waiting for you to take the first step?  "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34 Can you take steps of faith today and follow were His light is shining through the darkness?

This is my Prayer:  God I need light in the darkness of my life. Lord I believe You are only one who can give it.  Jesus I give You full control over my life.  Holy Spirit give me direction and guidance for my life. Lord give me the strength, faith, and comfort in knowing that nothing I ever do, Satan ever does, or anything anyone else ever does can separate me from Your love and Your hand.    Jesus remove all worry of today and tomorrow and in its place give me the knowledge that in any situation You are in control and will always be.  In Jesus name, Amen.
