Consider your ways!

Why is this not working? Have you found yourself asking that question about your life or a situation in your life lately?  You’re doing everything you can think of and it is still not working.

Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways! “You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes. Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!” Haggai 1:5-7

Consider your ways! These scriptures speak of a person who is attempting to live right, but there is a certain area of his or her life, which does not align with the Word of God. You have to ask God to reveal to you both sins, known and unknown, that may hinder your walk with Him. Although you may live a Christian life, if you choose to obey God in some areas of your life without obeying Him in other areas, your life will flourish only partially.

As you continue to grow in God, your desires will soon align with His will and purpose for your life. This process requires diligently seeking Him each and every day and getting to know His Word. It is only because of our lack of communication with God we fail to understand where He wants us to be. Commit today to take time to listen to what He has in store for you. Remember, it is never too late to start again.  Once you acknowledge all your sins and turn away from them, God will begin to reveal Himself to you in a mighty way.

“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Prayer: God forgive me for all the sin in my life.  Jesus to help me better communicate with You on regular basis, not just when I’m in need. God reveal anything in my life that does not align with Your Word.  God remind me of my need to acknowledge the sin in my life and to seek Your forgiveness every day.

Trust in His Word

Whether it is a bad relationship, a loved one has been called home, or financial distress, there are certain to be moments in life where you ask God, “why?”  I want to let you know you can rejoice, because problems are only temporary.  How do I know, because His Word told me so!

The His Word says affliction is just for a moment. “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”2 Corinthians 4:17. Another scripture reads - joy cometh in the morning “For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5.  No matter what you are going through, you have to remain steadfast, trusting and believing God’s Word is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8. In His Word, He promises He will never leave you or forsake you.  “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”Hebrews 13:5.

You must understand, life is like a long road, and your eyes can only see so far ahead. Isn’t it good to know God can see all the way down the road?  So, when life takes you for an unexpected turn or things do not quite work out the way you envisioned, stand still and know God still cares for you. “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, so that by steadfastness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.” Romans 15:4.  What is the encouragement of the scriptures that brings hope? The scriptures point to Jesus Christ and the salvation that he brings, that is the hope for all the ages. God has given us his very words to instruct or guide us into hope of who He is and how to gain salvation. When we read the Bible we are made aware of the life that God has for us, and the promises of power, protection, purpose, and provision all become a part of who we are, and with God’s help. I am able to see victory.

This is my Prayer: God help me remain steadfast, trusting and believing in the truth and power of Your Word. God what is Your will for me, not just for today, but for tomorrow, and every day after.  Lord help me see is path me have laid before me and affirm it in Your Word.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Limitations are not our enemy, they're our opportunity.

Have you ever felt like God was calling you to do something in your life, but you didn’t have the resources or time to do it? You thought to yourself if only I had more ________ it would solve all of this. Limitations are not our enemy, they’re our opportunity. If we view them as challenges to meet, opportunities to seize, or doors to new ways of seeing we can overcome them.

“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
In life, we have seasons and every one of these seasons has its unique joys as well as pains. With God help we see better our limitations as they truly are blessings. In times of change, things are new and the joy is in seeing things develop. God is shaping things the way He wants but, usually we start focusing on the crisis of the moment more than the future He is building for us. Thinking about our season as an opportunity helps correct our attitude.

“I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to rejoice and to do good while they live.” Ecclesiastes 3:10-12
The point is that our approach can cripple us if we are too negative about the season we find are in. Discipline helps us to see the season of you are in is controlled by God not ourselves. We are not the savior of our situation–God is! We cannot quell the chaos, only He can. If you are in a season of change it is likely to be painful, not the blissful utopia you want your life to be. If our eyes are open, there are still joyous and meaningful moments to experience. We can’t control our circumstances, but we can control our attitude towards them. If we prayed more about our attitude and approach than our painful circumstances we will see more answers–although, this is not our nature most of the time. We want the limitations around us to change, not us! Change your attitude and you might be shocked at what follows. We can choose limitations to be a friend or a foe.

This is my Prayer: Lord help me to control my attitude and rejoice in all seasons of my life. Help me to see my limitations as opportunities for You to show off in my life. Teach me to take every opportunity to rejoice in You, what are changing in my life ,and what You are calling me to. In Jesus name, amen.

It's not always going to be this way

Even if it looks like the odds are stacked against you, if you believe God promises it will not always be this way.  For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham’s. For Abraham is the father of all who believe. That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, “I have made you the father of many nations.” This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing. Romans 4:16-17

This tells us through our faith and His grace the promise will be fulfilled for all believers. It also tells us, for it is not because of our good deeds or even our bad ones, but because of His grace we will receive the promise. Romans 4:17 states that God’s word declares our new life.  So, whatever you are expecting to turn around put it in God’s hands. Declare dead situations  to now rise. Know death and life are in the power of God. Begin to recite scriptures that relate to your situation daily. Think about what God has saved you from.  How God has rescued you from these times?  Know because He is such an awesome God, He will do it again!

This is my Prayer:  God give me victory over those situations in my life that are worrying and troubling me. Thank You for answering my prayers.  Thank You for Your promises in Your word.  Thank You for Your faithfulness to keep them.  Help me to study Your word and believe it.  Help me to remember that if You can save me, then You have the power to keep me.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Pray, Expect, and Prepare

Whatever it is you are hoping for and expecting, it is important to be prepared for it. How can you say, one day I will do this or that, but not make an effort to put yourself in a position to be able to receive it? In Jeremiah 31:17a “There is hope for your future,” says the Lord”, God says there is hope in your future. This lets us know the very thing you are hoping shall come to pass.

Matthew 25:6-10.  “At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’ “All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps.  Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’ “But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.’“But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked.

In this scripture there are ten women who set out on a journey - all expecting to meet the bridegroom to attend a marriage. There is something very powerful about this passage -ALL TEN WERE EXPECTING! So, if all ten were expecting to meet the bridegroom, why is it only half were prepared?  Many times when we set out on our journeys with hopes, aspirations and dreams we may all start at the same place, but only a selected few obtain victory because of simply preparing in advance.

So, what are you expecting from God today? Is it success on your job, a long and healthy life, a marriage, financial success, or simply peace? You have to begin to not only believe, but also start preparing yourself today.

This is my Prayer: God will give me direction for whatever changes I need to make in order for me to be in Your will.  Show me the things I need to do to prepare my life for those things I have been expecting and praying for.   Give me the faith to stay the course and help me prepare myself, my heart, and my life for Your blessing.  In Jesus name, Amen.
